Bachelor’s Degree Requirements:
- Minimum 121 Credit Hours
- Writing Intensive Course
- Minimum Cumulative G.P.A.: 2.00
- Minimum G.P.A. in the Major: 2.00
- 9 Credits of Upper-Level Major Residency Courses
- 30 Credit Hours of Residency Courses
- 30 Credit Hours of Upper-Level (300-400) Course Work
(Note: The required general education courses are determined based on the date of admissions into the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, pre-vet tech track. The required courses for the major are determined based on the date of matriculation into the Bachelor of Science, Veterinary Technology degree program.) All students must complete an “Explanation of Options” form prior to registration Admissions Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)/HiSET
- High School Biology with a lab (grade of C or higher)
- High School Chemistry with lab (grade of C or higher)
- High School Algebra I, II, or MAT 030 - Algebra I (grade C or higher)
- Completion of the current UMA mathematics entry assessment at the time of admissions application. Results of this entry assessment will be used to help determine the appropriate mathematics courses for student enrollment.
- Completion of 24 observational hours in a small/mixed animal practice or other site with program approval
- ENG 100 - Introduction to Academic Reading & Writing 3 credits OR course waiver.
- Minimum G.P.A. of 2.75 or higher
Applicants who do not meet course work requirements may qualify for admissions by completing comparable course work at UMA and will be admitted into the Pre-Veterinary Technology Track of the Liberal Studies Program. Enrollment in the Pre-Veterinary Technology track does not guarantee admissions to the Bachelor of Science, Veterinary Technology degree program. Program Major Requirements (81 Credit Hours):

- Complete 12 credits of any 100-level or higher electives 12 CR
- Complete 6 Credits of 300-level or higher electives 6 CR
General Education Requirements (40 Credit Hours):
Written Communication: Oral Communication: Writing Intensive: Computing Literacy: Social Science: - Any satisfactory course 3 CR
Humanities: - Any satisfactory course 3 CR
Fine Arts: - Any satisfactory course 3 CR
