POS 420 - The American Health Care System

3 CR

This comprehensive course delves into the intricacies of the American healthcare system through a holistic lens. Students will explore the historical context, key stakeholders, government programs, insurance coverage, healthcare advancements, and global perspectives on healthcare. Special emphasis is placed on social determinants of health, culturally competent care, health outcomes, public health policies, and the critical role of nurses in improving health equity and access. (This course is cross listed with NUR 420 .)

Prerequisite(s): NUR 220 , NUR 224 , NUR 304  for nursing students, BUA 223 /JUS 223 /POS 223 , or permission of instructor.
