Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies examines historical, political, and economic systems crucial to understanding constructions of gender, sexuality, and the experiences of women in the U.S. and across cultures. The program features interdisciplinary core courses and cross-listed courses that challenge students to think critically about sexuality, gender, race, class, and nation. Students in WGS develop strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills that prepare them for a variety of careers or graduate study in such areas as social service, public policy, business, law, women’s studies, education and government. Courses in the minor emphasize studies in queer history, the politics of embodiment, social movements and social justice, sexuality studies, literature, intersectionality, and diversity.
