HUS 504 - Substance Use Disorders and Interpersonal Relationships3 CR
This course acquaints students with the impacts of substance use disorder for individuals with substance use disorder and their interactions with others using a trauma-informed focus. The ways to conduct assessments, engage with families and other people in their lives, develop conclusions, and implement treatment modalities will be reviewed. Different family structures, cultural implications and ethical dilemmas will be examined. The conditions of co-addiction, codependency and family dysfunction are studied within the contexts of family systems, society as a whole and the treatment options.
