Pre-candidacy phase (14 credits)

Pre-Candidacy Phase Requirements:

Complete all pre-candidacy EDU courses with a grade of B- or better
Grade of C or better in ENG 101
Grade of C or better in mathematics (MAT 1xx)
GPA requirement met: 2.5 overall; 2.75 in education courses
Demonstrate proficiency on all key assessments

First Year Requirements:

Complete one of the following courses (3):

EDU 345W - Child Development 3 CR
EDU 401W - Educational Psychology 3 CR

Candidacy phase (20 credits)

EDU 380 - Digital Literacy and Technology in Schools 3 CR
EDU 385W - Methods of Teaching Reading and Writing in the Content Areas (6-12) 3 CR
EDU 390W - Secondary Methods of Teaching 3 CR
EDU 395 - Field Experience Seminar 3 CR application required for enrollment
EDU 396 - Field Experience Practicum 2 CR

Additional Requirements:

GPA of 2.5 overall and 2.75 in education courses
Complete application for student teaching

Student Teaching phase (12 credits)

EDU 399 - Student Teaching Seminar 3 CR taken concurrently with EDU 490
EDU 490 - Secondary Student Teaching (B. English C. Life Science D. Physical Science F. Social Studies G. Mathematics) 9 CR application required for enrollment

Additional Certification Requirements:

A Baccalaureate Degree from a Regionally Accredited Institution
At least 24 credit hours in the content area (English, Life Science, Physical Science, Mathematics, Social Studies)
