Cybersecurity, MS

Admissions Requirements:

To be considered for admission to the Master of Science in Cybersecurity, all applicants must submit the following items no later than August 1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis.

• Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
• UMA Graduate Online Application
• Essay stating the reasons for pursuing this degree, professional goals, and how this degree will contribute to these goals.
• Applicants submitting all of the above listed required items will be holistically reviewed and may be invited to participate in a mandatory interview with program faculty prior to an admission decision.

Admission is Selective

• CYB 501 - Cybersecurity Fundamentals 3 CR
• CYB 515 - Research Methods 3 CR
• CYB 530 - Project Management in Cybersecurity 3 CR
• CYB 551 - Cyber Laws, Policies, and Ethics 3 CR
• CYB 576 - Network Security Management 3 CR
• CYB 581 - Cybersecurity Investigations 3 CR
• CYB 582 - Cybersecurity Operations 3 CR
• CYB 583 - Database and Application Security 3 CR

Capstone/Thesis Requirement (6 credit hours)

Students must select either a capstone project or thesis.

• CYB 591 - Capstone Proposal 3 CR
• CYB 592 - Capstone Presentation 3 CR

• CYB 698 - Thesis Research 3 CR  taken twice to reach 6 credits
