ARH 274 - Modern Art I

This course will undertake a thorough study of the origins of Modern art. The course will trace the lessening of the power of the Academy and history painting, the impact of global cultures and the Industrial Revolution on subsequent developments in Western art, the rise of avant-garde movements, and political and social changes from the late nineteenth century to mid-20th century.

Prerequisite(s): ARH 106 OR permission of the instructor.
