Bachelor’s Degree Requirements:
- Minimum 136-140 Credit Hours
- Writing Intensive Course
- Minimum Cumulative G.P.A.: 2.00
- 30 Credit Hours of Residency Courses
- 9 Credits of Upper-Level Major Residency Courses
- Minimum G.P.A. in the Major: 2.00
- Minimum Grade of “C-” or better in 30 upper-level credits as well as all upper-level courses required in the major
Medical Laboratory Technology Admissions Requirements:
Applicants who do not meet these requirements may qualify for admissions by completing comparable course work at UMA and will be admitted into the Pre-MLT track. Enrollment in the Biology MLT 2+2 does not guarantee admissions to the MLT courses. - High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- High School Biology with lab or BIO 110 must be passed with a “C-” or higher
- High School Chemistry with Lab or CHY 100 must be passed with a “C-” or higher
- ENG 100 or course waiver
- 2.00 Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher
MLT Major Requirements (59 Credit Hours):
Complete either of the following: - An Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an NAACLS accredited program
- 59 credits as specified below
Additional Biology Program Major Requirements (31-33 Credit Hours):
Complete one of the following courses:
Other Program Requirements (6-8 Credit Hours):
- Complete a two-semester sequence of the same Foreign or American Sign Language or history sequence 6-8 CR
General Education Requirements (40 Credit Hours):

To complete the ASMLT degree prior to completing the BABIO degree, students must complete the communications requirement, ENG 101, one social science elective, a fine arts or humanities elective and a writing intensive elective (ENG 102W recommended). Students who are not admitted to the MLT program must complete all requirements for the BA in Biology degree to complete the program. The MLT courses must be finished within 3 years.
