MUH 302 - Queer Musicians. Heard, Seen and Unseen

3 CR

In this course we will examine the intersection of sexual and gender identities within music culture. We will explore critical perspectives on topics that have impacted the “musicing” of selected LGBTQIA persons in both popular and art music such as queer modes of musical expression, the use and necessity of a subculture, the implications of mainstream visibility, and implicit biases regarding the production and performance of Western music. (This course is cross listed with WGS 302 )
