ENG 202W - Survey of British Literature I: Beowulf to Romantics

A survey of representative British poetry, prose, and drama from the medieval period through the eighteenth century. In addition to close analysis of individual texts, authors, and movements, students will examine the historical and cultural contexts of the works, as well as their aesthetic dimensions, variant themes, cultural diversities, and rhetorical strategies.
