Bachelor of Architecture Admissions Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Verbal SAT score of 530 or higher or
- ENG 100 Introduction to Academic Reading and Writing or course waiver
- Math SAT score of 540 or higher, or
- MAT 111 Algebra II or course waiver
- Two Letters of Recommendation and/or Teacher Evaluations
- Portfolio of Creative Work (Please see www.uma.edu/academics/programs/barch/apply/ for detailed information)
- Transfer Applicants: Official College Transcripts
- Transfer, Current & Alumni Applicants: Minimum Cumulative G.P.A.: 2.5
Admission to the Bachelor of Architecture program is selective. Students must complete the above requirements to be eligible for consideration.
Bachelor’s Degree Requirements:
- Minimum 150 Credit Hours
- Writing Intensive Course
- Information Literacy to be met
- Diversity Requirement to be met
- Minimum Cumulative G.P.A.: 2.50
- 30 Credit Hours of Residency Courses
- 9 Credits of Upper-Level Major Residency Courses
- Minimum G.P.A. in the Major: 2.50
Program Major Requirements (101 Credit Hours):
All courses must be passed with a “C-” or higher.
Other Program Requirements (25 Credit Hours):
All courses must be passed with a “C-” or higher.
Complete one of the following math courses (3):
Remaining General Education Requirements (18 cr)
This sections is waived for those who hold a prior Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution.

- ANT 1xx any 100-level Anthropology course
- ECO 1xx any 100-level Economics course
- ECO 201 - Macroeconomics 3 CR
- ECO 202 - Microeconomics 3 CR
- JUS 1xx any 100-level Justice Studies course
- POS 1xx any 100-level Political Science course
- PSY 1xx any 100-level Psychology course
- SOC 1xx any 100-level Sociology course
- SSC 1xx any 100-level Social Science course
General Electives (6 Credit Hours):
- Complete 6 credits of any 100-level or higher electives 6 CR

Advising Notes:
- A minimum grade of “C-” is required in all courses applied to the degree.
- Students who earn a grade of less than “C-” in a required Architecture course, or whose average falls below 2.0, will be placed on architecture department probation for one semester. A student who achieves a 2.0 GPA or above and receives a grade of “C” or higher in all required Architecture courses at the end of the probation term, will be removed from academic probation. A student who fails to remediate their probationary status in one semester will be dismissed from the Architecture program and will be required to reapply for admission.
- Any student who earns a grade less than “C-” in a required Architecture course during their first year in the degree program will be dismissed from the Architecture program and will be required to reapply for admission.
