BIO 435 - Applied Bioinformatics4 CR
This course focuses on the fundamental aspects of bioinformatics. Students will curate data from publicly available databases and perform complex analyses with publicly-available and proprietary bioinformatics tools. Topics to be discussed include molecular data retrieval, sequence alignment, BLAST, primer design for PCR, molecular phylogenetics, conserved synteny, CRISPR, miRNA target prediction, workflow, “big data” analyses, and the ethical, legal, and social implications of translational bioinformatics research.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 320
